Since 2020, November 22 has been officially recognized in South Korea as “Kimchi Day,” a day to celebrate the tradition of Kimjang: the communal preparation and sharing of kimchi for the winter season. The date, which falls in late fall and early winter, symbolizes the 11 main ingredients and the more than 22 health benefits associated with kimchi. UNESCO has also recognized Kimjang as an Intangible Cultural Heritage.
To celebrate Kimchi Day, we are organizing a series of short, hands-on kimchi workshops. Participants will learn the basics of kimchi preparation, discover more about Korean fermentation culture, and make their own 500-ml jar of kimchi to take home.
